Winnie's Favorite Things Birthday Party
When your iconic and uninhibited personality becomes the party theme. ✨
Hi friends! This newsletter is (usually) a monthly-ish round-up of life things - what I'm enjoying, reading, learning, buying, doing, thinking about, and more. Today, I’m recapping Winnie’s 5th birthday party!
WINNIE’S FAVORITE THINGS!
If you don’t know Winnie IRL or aren’t sure why this party is just perfect for her, please see my Vacation Winnie highlight for years worth of stories, photos, videos, and hilarious moments of Winnie being her authentic, one-of-a-kind self.
We decided to make her birthday party theme…Winnie! She’s very particular about what she loves and also…what she doesn’t love. When she’s into something, she’s ALL IN and we decided to make the whole party centered around things she loves - Winnie’s Favorite Things! Here’s how I phrased the invitation:
Our dessert-obsessed girl is turning FIVE! Come celebrate her sparkle, her personality, her one-of-a-kind vibe. They'll be cupcakes to decorate and glitter for your hair, a Danny Go dance party and sweet treats to share. We can't wait to celebrate all the joy that she brings. Join us to party with all of Winnie's Favorite Things!
ACTIVITIES
This was such a fun party to plan and host! We had a few different stations/activities throughout the house, including:
Cupcake Decorating Station - We turned E’s office into the cupcake decorating room! My mom made two types of cupcakes and two flavors of frosting and the kids got to choose their selections and then decorate their cupcakes with all sorts of sprinkles!
Hair Glitter Station - The laundry room was where we kept the hair glitter station, so kids could look at themselves in the mirror as my sister put hair glitter in their hair! We had a ton of hair glitter color options for the kids to choose from.
Bounce House - always a hit with the kids!
Danny Go! Dance Party! We turned on the Danny Go! YouTube channel and let the kids wiggle and dance out some of the sugar (sorry, parents!) for a little bit.
Festive Art Area - the guest room is always the art area at our parties! I found these festive Cupcake ‘Make a Face’ Sticker Sheets and Donut ‘Make a Face’ Sticker Sheets, plus this French Fry Free Printable, and had these on the art tables along with some markers. Super easy!
DECOR
In terms of decor, we kept our girl front and center! I made banners and signage on Canva with cute and funny photos of Winnie over the years and had those hanging throughout the party! I also ordered these Face on a Stick things from Etsy and they were SO CUTE. We put them all over the cake, in flowers, and on other food items just to sprinkle in a little Winnie everywhere. ✨ All of the decor and other party details can be found in this blog post.
GIFT BAGS
It wouldn’t be a true ‘Favorite Things’ party without sending our friends home with some little gifts! Winnie LOVES little purses and backpacks and my sister found something SO perfect. I ordered these Mini Glitter Purses and inside of each, we put some of Winnie’s ‘favorite things’ … including a chocolate candy coin, a Popsicle Lip Gloss, and Mini Containers of hair glitter that the girls and I made. I don’t always do party favors, but I couldn’t resist given the theme!
What an easy and fun little girl to celebrate! Happy birthday, Winnie! May you continue to march to the beat of your own drum and always be authentically yourself. ✨🍟 🍩🧁🍭🦄⭐️
