Hi friends! This newsletter is (usually) a monthly-ish round-up of life things - what I'm enjoying, reading, learning, buying, doing, thinking about, and more. Today, I’m sharing a little brain dump from 2024. Hoping to dive into some specific topics on here later on this month!
I usually spend a good amount of time reflecting at the end of a year, but haven’t had the emotional capacity to process 2024 yet. I did recently take some time to look through photos from the year and wow — what a year. ✨🤍 It was a big one filled with lots of transitions, emotions, and change that ultimately landed us with two life updates we're very grateful for — a home renovation on our beloved old house and baby Daisy joining our family. 💖
I found out I was pregnant in early February and we moved out in late March to kick off the reno in April. Our therapist told us these were two of the very biggest life changes couples go through and reiterated that both of them at the same time were, in fact, A LOT. And there was a lot of other life — much of it unshared — that happened in the margins of these two very big events.
Travel is always a highlight and joy for me and I'm glad I got to do some this year! San Diego for a wedding, New Orleans for a girl’s trip, spring break in the Cayman Islands for spring break, a 'just us' trip with Winnie to NYC, Marrakech for a shop sourcing, and a girls’ trip, several day/weekend trips around Tennessee and Georgia, two weeks in Ohio to visit my parents and sisters, tagging along on E's work trip to Santiago, Chile, and a weeklong family road trip in California. The ability to travel is such a gift and privilege that I never take for granted, especially after 2020.
Daisy was born in September — it was a fast and spontaneously unmedicated birth in the middle of the night. She's been an absolute delight and watching Lucy and Winnie shine in their role as big sisters has been so special! And we moved back home in November (a month earlier than expected, which is unheard of!) — just in time for the holidays.
There were lots of dinner parties, neighborhood walks, movie nights, reading, couch snuggles, birthday parties, coffee dates, backyard pool hangs, texts to my friends asking 'Am I the only one...?', crying, laughing, overwhelm, uncertainty, pride, gratitude, grief, and joy. All of it, all together, doing a little back-and-forth dance all year long. 💫
I have lots of plans and ideas for this newsletter in 2025 - we will see if they happen! But I appreciate you being here and following along! 💛
