Hi friends! This newsletter is (usually) a round-up of life things - what I'm enjoying, reading, learning, buying, doing, thinking about, and more. Last month's newsletter was more vulnerable and reflective, all about feeling rejected and left out. I loved hearing from many of you and connecting over our shared experiences. This month's newsletter swings the pendulum the other way and is…not deep or reflective. Instead, I'm deep diving into my favorite ’underthings’ after finally upgrading my bras and undies. Let's go!
After 3+ years of wearing maternity/nursing bras and ill-fitting bras from my pre-kids, perky boob days… it was time for new options. I was overwhelmed by all the possibilities online and wasn’t quite sure about my bra size anymore. My pre-kid bra size still fits in some brands, but in others… not so much.
Anyway, a couple months ago, I decided to go to Nordstrom for an actual bra fitting and had a great experience! It was a bit awkward initially, but the sales associate was SO helpful, kind, and accommodating. She gave constructive feedback and recommendations and also helped explain to me my boob shape in a way that (finally) made sense to me. I shared more about my lifestyle and how comfort was still essential, but I wanted more elevated bra options with more support and shape. I have more side breast tissue, so we kept that in mind. I left with two bras and wanted to share them with you today! And, to rave about how helpful it was to actually have someone else, in person, help me find the right bras for my body. Here’s what came home with me!
Natori Bliss Perfection Underwire Contour Bra - this is more of an everyday bra - it’s comfortable, pretty, supportive, comes in 10+ colors, and looks really smooth under tight shirts. I tend to get side boob spillage even in the correct bra size, but I didn’t have that at all in this one! Highly recommend.
Natori Feathers Underwire Contour Bra - this one is a bit sexier than the other one, with a deeper cut for certain tops. That being said, it still is super comfortable (the most important thing to me, if you can’t say lol), and the lace doesn’t show through shirts. It doesn’t have extra padding or push-up, but it still makes my boobs feel a bit more lifted and perky.
I always thought I was a 34C, but the Natori 34D bras fit me best. These are usually $70/each, but have several color options for $35 - $42 right now! I’m going to order another one!
I also wanted to round up a few other underthings that I wear regularly, what I wear during my period, and a few I used all the time when I pregnant and/or nursing.
‘REGULAR’ UNDERTHINGS
Undies
GAP Undies (High Rise No Show Cheeky + Breathe High Rise Thongs) - I’m a GAP underwear convert, thanks to my friend Christine, who always has the best recommendations. These undies aren’t fancy, but they are SO comfortable. I’ve ordered many times at this point! Since GAP always has sales, you can usually get these at a very affordable price.
Everlane Undies (High Rise Hipster + High Rise Thong) – I ordered these after many recommendations. I like that they are simple and no-shows. They are a bit more expensive than the GAP options but still affordable, IMO.
Bras/Tops:
UNIQLO Wireless Bra – this is SO comfortable! This could go in the pregnancy/nursing section because I wore it during both phases of life, and I honestly preferred this over traditional nursing bras.
Aerie Lace Plunge Bralette – I have many Aerie bralettes that are fantastic and affordable. This lace plunge bralette is subtly sexy but still very comfy (obviously necessary). I also like that the straps are adjustable.
Sticky Boobs - I’ve been wearing silicone sticky boobs a lot more lately, mostly because I just don’t want to wear a real bra. They work really well when a regular bra won’t do, and come in a bunch of different colors to match different skin tones.
Free People Happiness Runs Crop – I have several of these — I wear them as bras or workout tops for everything.
Sets/Etc:
ARQ Bra + High-Rise Undie Sets – I only have one set, but love love love both the bra and the undies. I’ll wear the set by itself, just lounging around the house or to bed, and the bra and undies under regular clothes doing ‘normal’ things. They come in so many cute colors!
DURING MY PERIOD
Period Sleep Shorts – big fan of these. There is nothing worse than bleeding on your sheets during your period – such a bummer. I don’t like wearing a bulky pad to bed during my period, and I’ve never felt comfortable wearing a tampon for that long (right?). These period sleep shorts are shorts with period undies built-in and have the absorbency of FIVE tampons.
Period Undies (Super High Waist, Super Hiphugger, Thong) – I was initially skeptical because…how does it work? But it’s been so great. I wear the undies all day during my period, rinse them, and then put them in the washing machine with everything else. It is super easy, and the undies are comfortable, plus there is no leaking/staining.
MATERNITY & NURSING
Nursing and Sleep Bra – I had this and wore it regularly. It is super comfortable and easy to nurse in. Kindred Bravely has great, cozy pregnancy and postpartum pajamas, too!
Everyday Nursing + Maternity Bra – cozy, comfortable, easy. Wore it during both pregnancies and postpartum phases.
High-Waisted Postpartum Undies – I wore these for a year after having Winnie. I liked them if I wore them one year postpartum.
I’d love to hear from YOU! I’m specifically looking for a good STRAPLESS BRA! Leave a comment below and tell me your favorite (ideally comfy) bras and undies! 👇🏼
